"We Care About Our Students"

Academy of the Arts in Shawnee is a 10,000 square foot performing arts center, complete with 6 large state-of-the-art teaching studios, three additional music rooms, a homework room and a dancewear and performing arts supply store.

 

The Academy recently expanded to offer dance lessons in South Overland Park! The purchase of Aspire! Dance Center provides a second dance location with two beautifully designed oak sprung floor dance rooms with a superior sound system.

 

The Academy offers music, drama and voice lessons in addition to the over 30 different levels and disciplines of dance which include tap, ballet, jazz, tumbling, hip hop, modern, ballroom and more! 

 

The Academy provides many opportunities throughout the year for the students to perform. In the winter of 2003, the studio was given the honor of being the host studio for the Moscow Ballet's production of the Great Russian Nutcracker. The famous ballet company held auditions and all rehearsals for all of the children's parts of this amazing production at the Academy of the Arts!  We had such a great experience with this that we began to do our own Nutcracker the following year! As a mother of two girls, Studio Director, Tonya Ebner, understands the immense responsibility of the instructor not only as a teacher, but as a ROLE MODEL. All instructors of Academy of the Arts embrace this fundamental concept. Each studio instructor is also a performer and most also perform in our annual recital as well. Studio instructors are constantly refining their teaching skills by attending classes and conventions with master instructors. We really love what we do !!!

 

The Shawnee studio is located at 5413 Martindale; Shawnee, Kansas 66218. It is in Western Shawnee between I-435 and K-7 just off of Johnson Drive, right next door to the Johnson County Girls Athletic Complex and just West of the Mid-America Sports Complex.

 

The Overland Park studio is located at 9201 W. 133rd St. It is between Antioch and Switzer on 133rd. It is behind the Hy-Vee. If you are heading North on Antioch from 135th, turn left on 133rd and travel 1/2 mile to our studio on the Southeast corner of the building.
