Dress Code

Students are not required to purchase specifically colored tights or leotards for class; however, each student is required to wear appropriate dancewear to class. Students who show up in inappropriate clothing for class will be asked to wear something from our "extra dance clothing" box. If a student refuses to wear proper dancewear from the extras box, the student will not be allowed to participate in class. Parents will be notified should their child refuse to participate in class in with the proper attire.

For all Ballet or Modern/Lyrical classes, or combination classes that include Ballet, students must wear leotards and tights. For ballet, a ballet skirt may also be worn. For tumbling classes, bare legs and a leotard are appropriate. All tap and jazz and JPHMix classes should wear leotards and tights; dance pants or shorts are optional.

Boys should wear T-shirts and dance pants or shorts. Please DO NOT wear baggy-style clothing, as this makes it nearly impossible for the teacher to correct body alignments—except for the hip hop classes in which looser fitting clothing is fine.

Please keep all jewelry to a minimum. This means wedding rings and stud earrings would be okay, but long necklaces and bracelets are not. Hair should be worn off the face for all classes, and in a bun (if long enough) for all ballet classes. There will absolutely be no gum, candy, drinks or other edibles allowed in the studio teaching rooms. Students must also wear the appropriate shoes for class. These are as follows:
